People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway!
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind to them anyway!
If you are successful, you'll win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway!
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway!
What you spent years building, someone will destroy overnight;
Build anyway!
If you find serenity and happiness, they will be jealous;
Be happy anyway!
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway!
Give the world the best you have, and it'll never be enough;
Give the world your best anyway!
You see in the final analysis, it is between you and God,
Never between you and them anyway!

I was just thinking. You know how many people I know about in Medicine has depressive disorders? I think I've lost count. Some are on the full-blown anti-depressive medications, others on St. John's Wort a herbal, albeit milder anti-depressive. Then there's others like myself, who really should be on those, but aren't because... actually I don't know. Maybe I'm convinced I can sort myself out, which is bullshit if it's depression or I'm convinced that I'm just sad because of the problems in my life, that's also bullshit because that's dysthymia and you need to address it before it becomes full-blown depression.
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, depression doesn't have to have a reason, although most of the time there's a trigger factor, an unhappy episode or event causing the whole thing to blow up in the face, and it's mostly multifactorial. Some of those I know is because med has taken away such a significant part of their lives, others because they're homesick and some others, relationship issues. Myself? those who know me know what problems I have been facing, thanks for being there for me throughout this nightmare year.
Maybe the old saying is true "Being in Medical School is the psychological equivalent of living with a dysfunctional family where no one cares for each other." So to all the meddies-wanna-be, think carefully before you say yes, are you ready for it, do you choose to do it and stay with it, for better for worse till death do you part? I have chosen it, because I have chosen to answer His call, and to serve for His glory, in spite of all fear, in spite of all suffering, because I know He is near.

I am soooo going to retain year 2. This is the first time ever ever in my medical life that I have no idea what is going on with the patient after one look. It has never happened before, I'd usually have a fair idea of what is wrong with the patient, and even if I was wrong, I'd have realised it really quickly. This is the first time I didn't realise how off I was until it was too late.... What in the world happened.... I have no answers, even my friends and mom said, this is the first time ever in medicine I hear you say you don't have a clue about what is going on. All the questions that was fired back at me just couldn't answer cos I was on the wrong track all the while! Year 2 2006, here I come....
